They just disappeared!

It's been quite the weekend! Friday started with a missing cell phone. J and the boys went out for haircuts that morning. We noticed it was missing when we were getting ready to leave for S1's birthday party at church later in the day. No phone - anywhere. We searched the house, the van, and retraced steps all the way to Home Depot where it was last used. Nothing, so on we went to the birthday party.

The party was great! She had about 10 girls there and they had lots of fun trying to solve a mystery. I thought they'd figure it out right away, but it took close to an hour for them to do all their investigating! And in the end, only a couple people really knew what happened. It was fun watching them, and everyone seemed to have a good time.

S2 had a baseball game at the same time so J made a few trips back and forth from the game to the party. The Blue Jays (S2's team) won! They've really done well this season and S2's been loving every minute of it. He had a game on Saturday afternoon too, which they also won. Just a couple more weeks and then it's tournament time.

Back to the phone. Still no phone and we've searched everything again. The van got cleaned out a little better and J found a necklace I lost last winter. But still no phone, and now S4's glasses were missing too - the new ones we just picked up on Thursday! Somehow they were set on the back bumper of the truck, before J took S2 to the ballpark. Imagine small, wire rimmed glasses just sitting there on the bumper while the truck backs down a sloped driveway. I pictured bent frames and broken glass in the street. But there was no trace of them. The search was on again. We looked everywhere, even walked halfway up the road leading to the subdivision on the sheer chance that they stayed on the bumper until then. No sign of them. So, we went to the ball game.

After that it was time for the S3's birthday. We came home and had a fun time celebrating her's with ice cream cake this time. With three birthdays in the same month you get kind of tired of regular birthday cake. I'm glad she likes the ice cream kind.

After that we checked the attic for the phone. It's the one place we hadn't looked yet. J and S4 climbed up there while I called his cell phone, which was on vibrate, so we had to really listen close. We all hoped and prayed it was up there. Even finding one of the missing items would be nice by this time. After calling it a second time they found it in the box of mittens and hats we put up there the other day for storage. Whew! At least we found the phone! Thank you Lord! Still no glasses though, so tomorrow we call and have another pair ordered. Quite the weekend, and that was only Friday and Saturday!

Learning the Language

We had our first Czech language lesson the other day. My, it's a beautiful language to hear, but not an easy one to learn! Here are a few words that I remember:
Ano - means yes
Ne - means no
Dobrou notz - means goodnight
Prosím - means please

We went over many more words and phrases that night. I think I need to practice! Only 8 more weeks.

Memorial Day

Today ended up being a beautiful day! We did some work in the garden, expanding it a bit so it's easier to mow. That was a lot of work. We had to cut out some of the grass first, add in some top soil, and then till. Actually, J did most of the work! The rest of us looked on and followed directions.

This evening we spent time with some friends, eating outside and just having fun visiting.

That's about it. I don't think I'm real creative with the blog thing yet, but I'll keep practicing! :-)
